Nose: whoa. Orange and zesty with lots of zing in the back; take orange peel, twist, add spice, twist some more. Ginger, cumin, and cardamom. Hay and must/dust. Bit tropical with an exotic essence of tropical fruits hanging from trees just out of hands reach. Kiwi skins.
Palate: spiced, tart, and tingly in the back; tickles and teases while bringing an instant smile to my face. Spice abounds, infusing each quaff with ginger, cumin, and a dash of cardamom. Ginger is most prevalent as raw fresh ginger root shaved. Orange rind, pineapple and kiwi. Lemon ice. The spice lingers long in my breath after each quaff. Lemon adds to the tart tingles along sides of cheeks.
Final Thoughts: tasteful and intriguing, I really dug this Japanese take on a classic Belgian wit beer. A merging of two worlds I was more than happy to sup and would happily sup again.
