Nose: whole grain rolls. Whiff of must in the back which could not be a good thing. Apple core, bark, and a lingering sense of unpleasantness.
Palate: the whole grain loaves and rolls hold their own which are about the only positive thing I have to say about this beer. Bitter dry acrid bite in the back; brown apple skins and brown apple cores. Maybe some bales of hay…maybe not. Dusty old leather.
Final Thoughts: I very well may have taken home a bad bottle. In fact, I’m pretty darn sure I did. That being the case, I would love another chance at this beer because I have heard good things about this brewery. Not great, but good nonetheless.
